About The Holiday Shop of Saratoga Springs

Born out of our love for antique and contemporary holiday decorations, The Holiday Shop of Saratoga Springs was established in 1995 as a walk-in retail store. Originally located at 384 ½ Broadway in Saratoga Springs, New York, our first location measured a mere 900 square feet. By our second Christmas season in this tiny, but adorable space, it was obvious that we needed to expand.

In the spring of 1997, we decided to make the move and we packed up our goods and moved a few blocks up the street to 444 Broadway. At this location, we more than doubled our selling space, as well as our inventory. For the next three years, this was to be our “home away from home”.

Christopher Radko, Fontanini, Old World Christmas, Anna Lee Mobility Dolls, Byers Choice Carolers, Vaillancourt Folk Art, Walnut Ridge Collectibles, Department 56 Snowbabies and houses were just some of the many holiday collectibles lines featured in our Holiday Shop. Our loyal customers came to know that if there was something unique to be found – they would surely find it in our store!

By our first Christmas in our new location we realized that we were, once again, running out of room and needed to expand. As our business grew, our time with family, friends and each other began to shrink. Our holidays became the store’s and opportunities to travel and attend unique events, such as the Golden Glow of Christmas Past's (www.goldenglow.org) annual convention, were not possible. Although we enjoyed our entrepreneurial adventure and our loyal customers who became good friends, we decided to reclaim our “civilian” lifestyle. So, in the summer of 2000, we made the difficult decision to sell The Holiday Shop of Saratoga Springs.

Several months later, a buyer came forth and presented us with a purchase offer. Although excited by the prospect of a sale, we soon realized that this person was not the right type of person to run our establishment. Additionally, we could not bear the thought of “turning over” the store we worked so hard to establish-apparently the business was in our blood for good! We declined the offer and decided to close our walk-in store and move our business totally online. As a result, holdayshopsaratoga.com was born!
