From the original Old World Christmas Collection comes “Frosty Pinecone”. This long retired collectible measures 2” and is in mint condition from holidayshopsaratoga.com store stock.
This beautiful ornament with its distinctive star cap was carefully hand-crafted in Germany by the skilled artisans of Inge-Glas. Inge-Glass, once the exclusive provider of blown glass collectables to Old World Christmas, was founded by direct descendants of the original glassblowers of Lauscha. Using centuries old techniques, this ornament was faithfully recreated using an original antique mold. It takes approximately seven days to create each of these magnificent collectibles.
The same amount of effort and skill goes into making each of these smaller glass ornaments. Like their larger counterparts, this festive miniature glass ornament was carefully mouth blown, one at a time, into a finely crafted antique porcelain mold. After the inside was coated with a wash of silver for reflection, it was then hand-painted with brightly colored lacquers and then accented with sparkling glitter. After the ornament stem was snipped off, the trademark Star Cap was then attached…an heirloom born!
Miniature molds are difficult to find because so many were lost during the war or with passing of time. Very much sought after, these beautiful miniatures are perfect for decorating wreaths and small tabletop feather trees. They are also perfect for hanging on the outer edges of larger branches and on those tiny branches way at the top of your full size Christmas tree.
