A Dickens of a Collection!

In 1998, Merck Family’s Old World Christmas introduced, in very limited numbers, a specially commissioned series of ornaments titled “A Dickens of a Collection”.

Each year, beginning in 1998, four of these finely sculpted and intricately painted ornaments were released in very limited numbers. These collectible pieces became one of the most sought after collection of ornaments.Made in Germany for Old World Christmas by the skilled artisans of Inge-Glas, this festive glass collectible was carefully mouth blown, one at a time, into a finely crafted porcelain mold. After the inside was coated with a wash of silver for reflection, it was then hand-painted with brightly colored lacquers. After the ornament stem was snipped, the trademark Star Cap is attached, and an heirloom is born! It took approximately seven days to create each one of these magnificent ornaments.
