Imported from Germany by Merck Family’s Old World Christmas, this long retired ornament is part of a special collection of ornaments that was inspired by the craftsmanship and memories of Birgit Muller-Blech’s glass ornament making roots. When the first glass Christmas ornaments were created in the Thuringian region of Germany, Birgit’s ancestors were there!
This magnificent ornament was designed by Birgit and hand–crafted in the same manner used by her ancestors; Birgit is from one of Germany’s premier glassblowing families. Her amazing heritage of craftsmanship and artistry is evident in each ornament she creates. Due to the extraordinary skill and time required to bring each ornament to life, Birgit’s Christmas Collection was, and still is, one of the most limited and collectible ornament collections offered. Each design is retired after its very limited production.
This amazingly detailed, blown-glass ornament is from Birgit’s Limited Edition collection. Children wait for Santa all around the world. In Africa and India he arrives on an elephant with a large pack of gifts for all the good little boys and girls!
“Jolly Jumbo’s Ride” has a retired Old World Christmas catalog number of #101, and is in “new”, mint condition, from store stock. This blown-glass collectible measures approximately 7 ½”, is beautifully hand-painted and glittered and is topped with the trademark star cap signifying its authenticity as an heirloom created by Inge-Glas. It comes in a see-through plastic ornament box with a certificate of authenticity.
