Imported from Germany by Merck Family’s Old World Christmas, this long retired blown-glass ornament is part of a special collection of ornaments that was inspired by the craftsmanship and memories of Birgit Muller-Blech’s glass ornament making roots. When the first glass Christmas ornaments were created in the Thuringian region of Germany, Birgit’s ancestors were there!
This unique ornament was designed by Birgit and hand–crafted in the same manner used by her ancestors; Birgit is from one of Germany’s premier glassblowing families. Her amazing heritage of craftsmanship and artistry is evident in each ornament she creates. Due to the extraordinary skill and time required to bring each ornament to life, Birgit’s Christmas Collection was, and still is, one of the most limited and collectible ornament collections offered. Each design is retired after its very limited production.
This whimsical blown-glass ornament is from Birgit’s Santa is Coming collection. The most severe winter is at the North Pole. There the polar bears show Santa Claus the way through the waist-deep snow. Very soon Santa will arrive in the cold night air to bring his gifts to the children of the village who are all snuggled up in their warm homes.
“A Friendly Lift” has a retired Old World Christmas catalog number of #104, and is in “new”, mint condition, from store stock. This precious collectible has been hand-signed by Birgit! The ornament measures 7 1/2" and comes in a see-through plastic ornament box with an Old World Christmas certificate of authenticity.
