From Merck Family’s Old World Christmas comes the glass “Pickle” ornament.

The “Pickle” ornament was always the last ornament to be hung on the Christmas tree. Parents would hide the pickle amongst the other ornaments, tucked in between the green boughs for the children to find on Christmas morning. The first one to find this special ornament would receive an extra little gift left by St. Nicholas for being the most observant child.
