“Devil in Tub” retired Old World Christmas ornament #2541 is made of mouth blown-glass, is hand-painted and glittered and measures 4 ¼”. This boiled Beelzebub is pictured showing both sides to illustrate the amount of detail and craftsmanship that went into creating this cunning little devil!
Using antique molds, this ornament was created in Germany by Inge-Glas; once the exclusive provider of glass collectibles to Old World Christmas. “Devil in Tub” is topped with the star cap trademark, signifying its authenticity as an heirloom created by the German artisans of Inge-Glas.
“New” from store stock, this retired ornament comes with a story card telling the following legend of Krampus: The story of the devil Head-Krampus: In some parts of Germany and Austria, early St. Nicholas characters were accompanied by a figure called Krampus. Krampus looked very much like the devil with a red face, horns and a tail. His purpose was to punish girls and boys who had misbehaved during the year. The devil head ornament is symbolic of a figure common to early Christmas festivals. The antique devil head is believed to be one of the earliest ornament molds made and dates back to the last quarter of the nineteenth century.
